Party cites Rieman’s public finance experience, steady oversight, and commitment to taxpayer accountability.
The Boone County Democratic Party has endorsed Kyle Rieman for re-election as Boone County Auditor, citing his experience in public finance, record of steady oversight, and commitment to clear, responsible management of public dollars.
Rieman has served as Boone County auditor since 2023. The County Auditor is responsible for key financial functions in county government, including budgeting, accounting systems, financial reporting, audit coordination, and monitoring the condition of county budgets and funds.
The Boone County Democrats said the auditor’s office requires an elected official who understands both the technical details of public finance and the public trust that comes with managing taxpayer resources. “Kyle Rieman has brought professionalism, discipline, and transparency to the Boone County auditor’s office,” said Deborah Finley, Chair of the Boone County Democratic Party. “At a time when local governments are facing real financial pressures, Boone County needs a County Auditor who knows the numbers, asks the right questions, and gives the public a clear picture of where things stand.”
Before being elected Boone County Auditor, Rieman served as the Budget Officer for the City of Columbia and as the Director of the Missouri General Assembly’s Legislative Research — Oversight Division. His background also includes more than 15 years of experience in public finance and oversight.
The Boone County Democrats said that experience matters as Boone County, the city of Columbia, and other local governments consider major decisions involving public safety, infrastructure, services, and long-term financial planning. Rieman’s approach as auditor has centered on data-driven analysis, clear financial reporting, responsible use of public resources, and continuous improvement in county financial practices.
The Boone County Democrats said those priorities are consistent with what voters should expect from a county auditor: independence, competence and a willingness to provide clear information even when financial decisions are difficult. “Kyle Rieman understands that good government starts with honesty and being willing to have tough conversations,” said Finley. “He has the background, temperament, and experience to continue serving Boone County taxpayers well.”
The primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026.
